THE GLOVES ARE OFF ! 

General Information:

The purpose of  The Gloves are Off  essay contest is to "raise the awareness of the environmental, economic, and lifestyle benefits of healthy landscapes and promote the significance of those who preserve and enhance green spaces at home, work and play."

Contestants are requested to write a 500 word essay on the benefits of healthy landscapes and green spaces at home, work, and/or play.

Eligibility:

Eligible participants in the Contest shall be citizens of or permanent residents of the United States.

All contestants must be bona fide students herein described as any student under the age of nineteen (19) years who is presently enrolled in a Howard County, Maryland high school or junior high school (public, parochial, private or state accredited home school ) in which the curriculum of said high school is considered to be on high school level, commencing with grade nine (9) and terminating with grade twelve (12). Students must be enrolled in high school or junior high school during the time of participation.

Must be a resident of Howard County, Maryland
Entries must be electronically submitted by 12:00 am January 31, 2011

Scholarship:

Scholarship awards are presented to two finalist as follows: 1st place- $100.00; 2nd place- $50.00.
